Blackfin Snook

Centropomus  medius

Other common names: Sortfinnet snook, Pacific blackfin, Crossie à nageoire noire, Gualaje aleta manchada, Robalo, Róbalo de aleta prieta.
Size: Up to 2 ft 2 in.
Distribution: From the southwestern coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico and the central Gulf of California to northern Colombia.
General: This harmless fish inhabits bays and estuaries and can reach a distance of 20 km from the coast. Occurs in coastal waters, but is more abundant in estuaries of any size. Enters freshwaters mostly in large rivers and feeds on fish and crustaceans.

Size: Up to 4 ft and 58 lb.
Distribution: From southern Baja California, Mexico and mouth of the Gulf of California to northern Colombia.
General: This harmless fish inhabits mangrove areas and lagoons. Also occurs in estuaries and fresh water.

Yellow snapper

Other common names: Yellow snapper, Gul snapper, Vivaneau jaune, Amarillo snapper, Luciano-ventre-prateado, Pargo mulatillo, Pargo amarillo.
Size: Up to 2 ft 4 in and 29 lb.
Distribution: Southern California to Peru, rare north of Baja California, Mexico; also at the Cocos and Galapagos islands.
General: This harmless fish is found in inshore reef areas over hard bottoms until at least 60 m depth. Tolerant to freshwaters. Feed on fishes, shrimps, crabs and mollusks.

Distribution: Mexico to Peru.
General: This harmless fish is found over hard bottoms in inshore reef areas up to a depth of at least 80 m. Carnivorous, feeds on big invertebrates and fish.

Size: Up to 3 ft and 20 lb.
Distribution: Southern California, USA to Panama.
General: This harmless fish inhabits inshore reef areas over hard bottoms. Generally solitary. Juveniles are sometimes encountered in shallow coastal waters and estuaries. Carnivorous, feeds on invertebrates and fishes.

General: This harmless fish inhabits coastal rocky and coral reefs up to at least 60 m depth. Juveniles may be encountered in estuaries with mangroves and mouths of rivers. Carnivorous, feeds on big invertebrates (such as crabs, prawns and shrimps) and fish.

Size: Up to 3 ft 4 in. and 39 lb.
Distribution: San Diego, California, USA to Peru, including the Gulf of California and the Galapagos Islands.
General: This harmless fish occurs in oceanic and coastal waters, commonly found in shallow water, with larger individuals up to 350 m depth. Also found in brackish water and occasionally ascends rivers. Forms medium-sized to big schools, but large adults may be solitary. Juveniles are often found in river estuaries. Feeds mainly on fishes, but also takes shrimps and other.
